He did this every time he tried to pull the boat free AND IT WAS ALL CAUGHT ON VIDEO!
Always in the WRONG DIRECTION.
Video 1 - 1st tow boat operator pulling backwards, in the WRONG direction into shallow water.
Watch as the 1st Tow boat operator sent by Boat U.S. tries again to pull the boat free by pulling backwards into shallow water instead of sharply to starboard. The deeper water is just a few feet to starboard!
Ungrounding Video
Video 2 - Second (MORE EXPERIENCED) tow boat operator (on the left) pulling the boat free by pulling sharply to starboard (deeper water) while the 1st tow boat operator pulls in the WRONG direction again!
As you can see, the 2nd (more experienced) tow boat operator immediately begins pulling sharply to starboard toward deeper water while the tow line of the less experienced 1st tow boat operator (center of the frame) remains slack.
You can actually see the shoreline behind move as the 2nd tow boat operator pulls in the CORRECT direction (sharply to starboard), and then the boat stops moving as the 1st tow boat operator pulls in the WRONG DIRECTION AGAIN!
At that point the 2nd tow boat operator actually had to shout "Come My way" to the 1st tow boat operator to stop him from pulling the boat back into shallow water!
As you can clearly see, once he stopped pulling the wrong way the port keel was easily and gently pulled free of the obvious soft grounding by the second tow boat operator while the 1st tow boat operator did NOTHING but float around.
They were obviously NOT hard aground, and a 2nd tow boat was never required ... an EXPERIENCED 1st tow boat operator was needed!
You are invited to view the video evidence and read the complaints that they filed (by general email) with Boat U.S. with an open mind, and come to your own conclusions.
We hope that the video evidence and information helps other boaters to make informed decisions.
